The William Guy Forbeck Research Foundation is working with the scientific community to shortening the cancer research timetable.

In Memory of Charlie Howden

Charlie had a dream of paddling the coast of Costa Rica to raise awareness for a cancer charity. At the time, little did he know he would soon be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer himself. Charlie was aiming for March 2013 and the planning was in full force. But then, the results were positive, he was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer in August 2013.

After a year of chemotherapy and a course of radiation the scans came back negative. The paddle was back on! In January 2015 we started working with Charlie to help plan the paddle and raise awareness for WGFRF. Although Charlie was not back to 100%, he had tremendous support from friends and family to move forward with the plan.

In May 2015, Charlie paddled over 200 miles of the coast of Costa Rica. His goal and dream was to do this paddle to gain awareness for the disease he was fighting and raise funds for research.

Sadly, in September 2015, Charlie passed. The Foundation is honored to have worked with Charlie to help him achieve his goal. Charlie will always be remembered for his drive and zest for life. Thank you for supporting Charlie and his paddle.
